Got something you keep vaguely intending to change? Start now.
Pick something measurable – not "be more active" but "walk an average of more steps each day of the week than I did the previous week" – and start measuring it.
They say it takes 21 days to really acquire a new habit, so let's get going. I've got mine, what's yours?
Thanks for the poke to get me going on someting very simple, but something I’ve been wanting to do. My new habit: Take flatware to work and use it instead of the disposable (plastic) forks, spoons, and knives for my lunch and snacks. I’m bringing my lunch in reusable containers anyway. Why don’t I throw the cutlery in there, too? I just got in the habit of using the plastic utensils because they were there, provided by the company, and it gave me a chance to be lazy and just discard my used plastic.
So today is Day #1. I wrapped my stainless steel fork, spoon, and knife in my bag with my lunch. Over the long haul, I’ll be putting less in the garbage, and as a side benefit, I’ll probably enjoy my lunch a little more with shiny, sturdy utensils. Right after eating, I can wash them in our sink in the breakroom kitchen and just leave them in my desk for my next meal or snack.
